Phosphoinositide 3 kinase (PI3K) enzymes regulate signal transduction through intricate feedback and cross-talk pathways.
PI3K has a catalytic subunit and a regulatory subunit.
Mammals have three Class 1A isoforms of the catalytic subunit are known as p110alpha, p110beta, and p110delta and one class IB subunit known as p110gamma.
The p110delta catalytic subunit is restricted to lymphocytes and some cells of breast and melanocytic origin.
