Osteoblast Specific Factor 2 (OSF-2) functions as a cell-adhesion molecule for pro-osteoblasts and is thought to be involved in osteoblast recruitment, attachment and spreading.
Patients with bone metastases from breast (but not lung) cancer show elevated levels of OSF-2.
OSF-2 expression is significantly increased by bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2).
