Cofilin is a 20kD actin-binding protein and a key regulator of actin dynamics involved inregulating lamellipodia formation, neurite extension, chemotaxis and tumor cell migration
Phosphorylation of cofilin by LIM kinase (LIMK1) on serine 3 mediates Rho-ROCK and Rac-PAK signaling pathways in regulating actin reorganization by inactivating cofilin and blocking its ability to promote actin-filament disassembly.
