PDEF (prostate-derived Ets factor) is a 37.5-kD protein that acts as an androgen-independent transcriptional activator for the PSA (prostate specific antigen) promoter.
It also interacts directly with the DNA binding domain of androgen receptor and enhances androgen-mediated activation of the PSA promoter.
PDEF was shown to have transcript levels 192-fold higher in the peripheral blood of some breast cancer patients in comparison with normal individuals.
PDEF mRNA is alsofrequently over-expressed in human breast tumors as well as in human ovarian tumors.
In ovarian tumors, PDEF expression seems to down-modulate malignant potential, and thus provides a rationale to screen for drugs that induce PDEF expression in epithelial ovarian tumors.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot.
Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended Dilution:ELISA: 0.1-1ug/mlWestern Blot: 1-3ug/mlOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%).
Freeze at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
