特徴

• Tight junctions create circumferential seals around cells in epithelial tissues that are critical for maintaining cell-cell adhesion.
• The “barrier” function of tight junctions regulates the passage of ions, water, and various macromolecules through paracellular spaces, while the “fence” function maintains cell polarity.
• Tight junctions thus function as a fence to prevent intermixing of molecules in the apical membrane with those in the lateral membrane.
• Tight junctions are comprised of the membrane proteins occludin, claudins, and JAMs.
• Claudins are responsible for the formation of tight junction strands and are connected with the actin cytoskeleton by ZO-1
• Claudin-15 is expressed in endothelial cells in the mouse kidney.
• Claudin-15 creates Na+ -selective paracellular channels, and charge-reversing mutations on the first extracellular domain of Claudin-15 create Cl- -selective paracellular channels.
• Claudin-15 has a high level of expression in the mouse small and large intestine.
• Applicaitons:Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence and Western Blot.
