Steroidogenic factor (SF-1), is an orphan nuclear receptor that regulates the enzymes that produce steroids and is required for adrenal and gonadal development.
SF-1 is important in the regulation of the pituitary gonadotropins, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH).
SF-1 is also expressed at high levels in the embryonic diencephelon that gives rise to the endocrine hypothalamus.
Therefore, SF-1 plays an important role in the development and function of multiple endocrine organs that are essential for reproduction.
SF-1 has been shown to promote transcriptional activity of many steroidogenic enzymes from the cytochrome P450 family.
SF-1 contains two activation function domains, designated AF1 and AF2, common to many nuclear steroid receptors which have been shown to be necessary for interaction with other nuclear receptors as well as coactivators and corepressors including steroid receptor coactivator-1 (SRC-1), glucocorticoid receptor interacting protein 1 (GRIP1), cAMP response element binding protein (CREB) binding protein (CBP) and silencing mediator of retinoid acid and thyroid hormone receptor (SMRT).
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml detected SF-1 in RIPA lysates from Y1 cells

Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
