Leptin, the product of the ob (obese) gene, is a 16kD protein consisting of 147 amino acid residues.
Leptin is produced in the adipose tissue, and is considered to play an important role in appetite control, fat metabolism and regulation of body weight.
It targets the central nervous system, particularly hypothalamus, affecting food intake.
Leptin levels are high in most obese individuals.
Studies have shown that it may also influence the reproductive function.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA and Western blotting.
Titer: Defined by indirect ELISA is >1:100,000 for antibody concentration 1mg/ml, 25ng of antigen are coated per well, and is then defined at a point of maximal decrease of the titration curve.
Reconstitution: Add 0.1ml of deionized water and let the lyophilized pellet dissolve completely.
Slight turbidity may occur after reconstitution, which does not affect activity ofthe antibody.
In this case clarify the solution by centrifugation.
Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%).
Freeze at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
