p100 is a ubiquitously expressed protein highly conserved during evolution that has been described as a coactivator that enhances the transcriptional activity of EBNA2 of EBV, functions as a bridging factor between STAT6 and the basal transcription machinery bridges, and interacts with the large subunit of RNA polymerase II (1).
Antibody studies have localized p100 in the ER and lipid droplets of milk secreting cells.
In addition to its nuclear localization, the p100 protein was also detected in cytosolic fractions from lactating mammary gland, in storage lipid droplets from adipocytes, and in ER from liver (2).
