STATs (signal transducers and activators of transcription) are a family of cytoplasmic latent transcription factors that are activated to regulate gene expression in response to a large number of extracellular signaling polypeptides including cytokines, interferons, and growth factors.
STAT1 is involved in the TNFR1-TRADD signaling complex.
In Hela cells STAT1 acts as a TNFR1-signaling molecule to suppress NF-kB activation.
It has also been shown that its activation slows growth and promotes apoptosis.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 1-2ug/mlHeLa cell lysate can be used as a positive control and a band of an approximate molecular weight of 84kD will be detected.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%).
Freeze at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
