Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blotting.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 1:1000-1:5000 for neat serum and 1-10ug/ml for affinity pure antibody using ECL.
The antibody has been shown to react with a protein band of about 60kD in the rat jejunum membranes that can be competed with the control peptide (2).
The MW.
Of Glut 5 is larger than that reported for human Glut 5 (50-55kD) (3).
As opposed to human tissues, rat Glut-5 mRNA has not been detected in rat testis, adipose tissues, and skeletal muscle (2, 4).
In rat kidney, a protein of about 42kD was detected (5).
Differences in MW.
Of Glut-3 in various tissues has also been noted.
ELISA: 1:10,000-50,000 for neat serum and 0.5-1ug/ml for affinity pure.
Control peptide can be used to coat ELISA plates at 1ug/ml.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%).
Freeze at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Size:100ul
Host:rabbit
Source Antibody:rat
Grade:Serum
Purity:Serum
Form:Supplied as a liquid, neat serum, 40% glycerol.
Specificity:Rat peptide sequence shows ~ 61% homology with human Glut-5 (8/13 AA). However, antibody raised to the C-terminal sequences from human Glut-5 does not crossreact with rat Glut-5 (5). For human Glut-5, we suggest the use antibodies that are made to a peptide from human Glut5. Antibody crossreactivity in various species is not established. Control peptide, because of its low mol size (<3kD), is not recommended for Western. It should be used in ELISA, Dot Blot and for antibody blocking to confirm specificity of antibodies

Immunogen:A cytoplasmic 13 AA peptide sequence near the C-terminus of rat liver glucose/fructose transporter (Glut-5) (1). A cysteine has been added at the NH2 terminus for coupling to KLH. The peptide was coupled to KLH
