Vasopressin (AVP, Arginine-8-Vasopressin), the antidiuretic hormone is cyclic nonapeptide invovled in the homeostasis of body fluid osmolality, blood volume, vascular tone, and blood pressure.
Specific actions of AVP include inhibition of diuresis, contraction of smooth muscle, stimulation of liver glycogenesis, and modulation of ACTH release from pituitary.
AVP belongs to the family of vasocative and mitogenic peptide invovled in normal and pathological cell growth and differentiation.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 1-10ug/ml using ECL.
An antibody made to the AVP-V2 peptide has detected a glycosylated band at ~62kD in membranes from rat inner medulla (2).
N-glycanase treatment reduced the AVP-V2 size to about 36kD (deglycosylated form)
ELISA: 0.5-1ug/ml using 1ug/ml control peptide per well, cat#V2120-35A.
Optimal dilution determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
For long-term storage, store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
