• Arginine vasopressin (AVP), also known as vasopressin, argipressin or antidiuretic hormone (ADH), is a hormone found in most mammals, including humans.
• Vasopressin is a peptide hormone that controls the reabsorption of molecules in the tubules of the kidneys by affecting the tissue's permeability.
• It also increases peripheral vascular resistance, which in turn increases arterial blood pressure.
• It plays a key role in homeostasis, and the regulation of water, glucose, and salts in the blood.
• It is derived from a preprohormone precursor that is synthesized in the hypothalamus and stored in vesicles at the posterior pituitary.
• Most of it is stored in the posterior pituitary to be released into the bloodstream.
• However, some AVP is also released directly into the brain.
• Applications:Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry, Western Blot and RIA.
• Other applications have not been tested.
• Recommended Dilutions:Immunohistochemistry: 1:5000-1:10,000.
• Using 18-24 hour incubation with formalin, Bouin’s or Zamboni’s fixed tissue.
• Will react on paraffin embedded tissue.
• Immunocytochemistry: 1:1000-1:200,000.
• Using 18-24 hour incubation with fetal rat neurons
• Western Blot: 1:1000RIA: 1:30,000-1:750,000; Sensitivity: <1pg/mlOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
• Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
• Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
• Store at -20°C.
• Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
• For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
