Glutamate receptors are the predominant excitatory neurotransmitter receptors in the mammalian brain and are activated in a variety of normal neurophysiologic processes.
This gene product belongs to the kainate family of glutamate receptors, which are composed of four subunits and function as ligand-activated ion channels.
The subunit encoded by this gene is subject to RNA editing (CAG->CGG; QR->R) within the second transmembrane domain, which is thought to alter the properties of ion flow.
Alternative splicing, resulting in transcript variants encoding different isoforms, has been noted for this gene.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions:Western Blot: 1-3ug/mlImmunohistochemistry: 1:10-1:500 using rat brain tissue.
Can be used with paraformaldehyde or paraformaldehyde/glutaraldehyde fixed tissue with light and electron microscopy.
Cryostat and vibratome sections can be used with or without Triton X-100 treatment.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
