The Dopamine D2 Receptor is one of the five types (D1 to D5) of receptors for dopamine.
The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which inhibit adenylyl cyclase.
Two isoforms are reported for the D2 Dopamine Receptor, isoform 1 and isoform 2 which are expressed in the pituitary and brain; Isoform 1 is expressed seven times more than isoform 2 in the caudate nucleus.
