Cytochromes P450 enzymes are a group of heme-thiolate monooxygenases.
In liver microsomes, this enzyme is involved in an NADPH-dependent electron transport pathway.
It oxidizes a variety of structurally unrelated compounds, including steroids, fatty acids, and xenobiotics.
Most active in catalyzing 2-hydroxylation.
Caffeine is metabolized primarily by cytochrome CYP1A2 in the liver through an initial N3-demethylation.
Also acts in the metabolism of aflatoxin B1 and acetaminophen.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: Useful for the simultaneous detection of CYP1A1 (57kD) and CYP1A2 (54kD), which can be separated electrophoretically.
Optimal dilution determined by the researcher.
Positive Control:Rat hepatic microsomal fraction.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
