Biotin is a water-soluble B-complex vitamin (vitamin B7).
It is composed of a ureido (tetrahydroimidizalone) ring fused with a tetrahydrothiophene ring.
A valeric acid substituent is attached to one of the carbon atoms of the tetrahydrothiophene ring.
Biotin is a coenzyme for carboxylase enzymes, involved in the synthesis of fatty acids, isoleucine, and valine, and in gluconeogenesis.
Biotin is necessary for cell growth, the production of fatty acids, and the metabolism of fats and amino acids.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunoprecipitation, and Immunodiffusion.
Also suitable for conjugation and most immunological methods, high titer and specificity.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:ELISA: 1:20,000Immunohistochemistry: 1:1000-1:5000Western Blot: 1:2000-1:10,000Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
