Cells respond to heat and chemical stress by inducing the synthesis of a group of proteins referred to as heat shock proteins.
HSP90 is present in cells at high levels in the cytoplasm and is composed of two separate gene products, HSP90a and HSP90b.
Recently, a cocktail of HSP90a and HSP90b polyclonal antibodies was shown useful in identifying node-negative breast cancer patients at higher risk of tumor recurrence.
