Several peptides associated with feeding behavior have been reported recently.
Orexins (Orexin A and Orexin B) are a family of hypothalamic neuropeptides selectively expressed in the hypothalamus and are derived from the same precursor (Prepro-orexin) by proteolytic cleavage.
Prepro-orexin is 130 amino acid long peptide with a putative 33 AA secretory sequence, a hydrophobic core followed by residues with small polar side chains.
The expression was detected in brain and to a small extent in testis.
These neuropeptides bind and activate two closely related Orexin receptors—G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs).
Rat and human Orexin 1Receptor (Hypocretin 1 Receptor) are 416 aa, and 425aa, respectively.
Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blotting.
Recommended Dilution:ELISA: 1:10,000-1:1000 (Use control peptides to confirm antibody specificity)Western Blotting: 1:1000-1:100,0 (use 50–100ng of control peptide/well; control peptides, because of their low MW (< 3kD), are not suitable for Western blot.
