TGF-alpha (transforming growth factor alpha) is a 50aa EGF-related polypeptide expressed in a range of tissues, including skin, pancreas, liver, duodenum, salivary glands, urinary and respiratory systems, and the developing and mature central nervous system (CNS).
TGF-alpha is produced by monocytes, keratinocytes and neuronal cells and stimulates the proliferation of a range of epidermal and epithelial cells, through binding to the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR).
TGF-alpha is mitogenic for multipotent neural progenitors and is involved in astrogliosis.
Applications:Suitable for use in Direct ELISA, Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot.
Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended Dilutions:Western Blot: 1ug/mlImmunohistochemistry: 5-15ug/ml immersion fixed paraffin embedded sections of human astrocytoma, pituitary adenoma, and prostate cancer tissue subjected to Antigen Retrieval Reagent-Basic Neutralization: 0.4-0.8ug/ml in the presence of 3ng/ml.
Measured by its’ ability to neutralize TGF-a-induced proliferation in the Balb/3T3 mouse embryonic fibroblast cell line.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by researcher.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile PBS.
