T-box transcription factors contain a novel type of DNA-binding domain, the T-box domain, which are encoded by an ancient gene family.
Four T-box genes, omb, Trg, org-1, and H15, have been identified in Drosophila, whereas in mammals the T-box gene family has expanded, and 12 human T-box genes have been isolated.
Most T-box genes have discrete spatial and temporal patterns of expression during embryogenesis.
T-Box gene 2 (TBX2) shares strong sequence similarity with Drosophila omb protein and expression studies indicate that TBX2 may be involved in tumorigenesis as an immortalizing agent.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.
