They play a vital role in transcriptional regulation during embryonic development, cell differentiation, chondrogenesis and cell fate determination.
SOX6 consists of a C-terminal HMG-box DNA-binding domain and N-terminal coiled-coil domain and forms homodimers.
It plays a critical role in neurogenesis, cellular aggregation, muscle & cartilage formation and chondrogenesis.
It is co-expressed with L-SOX5 and SOX9 during chondrogenesis and co-operates with SOX9 in the transactivation of Col2aI, a chondrocyte marker gene.
It represses Fgf-3 expression during embryogenesis and is involved in maintaining physiological functions of skeletal and cardiac muscle.
Applications:Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence and Western Blot.
