Noggin is a 232aa containing secreted protein belonging to the noggin family.
Cartilage morphogenesis and joint formation are some of the functions of Noggin.
It also acts as an inhibitor of bone morphogenetic proteins (BMP) signaling which is required for growth and patterning of the neural tube and somite.
Defects in NOG are a cause of symphalangism proximal syndrome (SYM1), multiple synostoses syndrome 1 (SYNS1), tarsal-carpal coalition syndrome (TCC) and stapes ankylosis with broad thumb and toes brachydactyly type B2 (BDB2).
It shows a restricted expression in few brain parts and uterus.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.
