Cyclin D2 a G1 cyclin, is a member of the family of D-type cyclins.
Indirect immunofluorescence studies showed that the protein is localized to the nucleus in G0, suggesting a nuclear function for cyclin D2 in quiescent cells.
It is found to be associated with the cyclin-dependent kinases, CDK2 and CDK4 and thus mediates the phosphorylation of tumor suppressor protein Rb during growth arrest.
