Non-structural protein 1 (UniProt: Q4QZ06; also known as NS1) is encoded by the NS1 (also known as NS) gene (Gene ID: 956533) in Influenza A virus.
Influenza A virus (IAV) is a highly contagious member of Orthomyxoviridae family.
The non-structural protein NS1 is a well conserved protein that is expressed at high levels in infected cells.
It is a multifunctional protein associated with various viral functions including mRNA processing, inhibition of cellular apoptosis, limiting interferon production, and inhibition of mRNA splicing.
The RBD domain binds with several RNA species with low affinity and the effector domain predominantly interacts with host-cell proteins and stabilizes the RBD domain.
052403 recognizes multiple strains of H5N1 influenza virus.
It exhibits high affinity for the RBD of NS1 protein (Kd = 43.5 nM).
Threonine 49 (T49) residue in NS1 that forms a direct hydrogen bond with the double stranded RNA is reported to be critical in its interaction with this antibody.
