Polyethylene glycols (PEG) are non-toxic, uncharged, hydrophilic long chain polymers with a big exclusion volume in aqueous solution.
The covalent attachment of PEG is commonly employed to modify proteins and drugs that can increase their bioavailability and reduce immunogenicity and proteolytic degradation.
052323 displays high affinity and binds the PEG backbone and can be employed as a detection antibody for the quantification of PEG.
It binds to a smaller epitope of the PEG backbone when compared to other antibodies.
Since it binds to a smaller PEG epitope (~750 Da), it is not compatible with detergents that contain an ethylene oxide backbone, such as Tween 20.
Instead 0.05% CHAPS is a more suitable detergent when using this antibody.
