In cattle, Brucella abortus primarily infects the reproductive organs, leading to abortion, retained placenta, and infertility.
Infected animals can shed the bacteria in their bodily fluids, such as milk, placental tissues, and vaginal discharges, contaminating the environment and spreading the infection to other animals.
Humans typically contract brucellosis through direct contact with infected animals or consumption of unpasteurized dairy products from infected animals.

For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
