Mutations in the genes for presenilin 1 (PS1) and 2 (PS2) are the causative factors for ~50% of early onset familial Alzheimer's disease.
PS1 and PS2 are homologous transmembrane proteins, and along with nicastrin, form high molecular mass multimeric protein complexes involved in the intramembranous proteolysis of several proteins including amyloid precursor protein (APP) and Notch receptors.
Absence of PS1 is associated with dramatic reductions in the levels of mature glycosylated nicastrin.
In contrast, absence of PS2 is associated with only modest reductions in the levels of immature nicastrin.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions:Western Blot: 1-10ug/mlOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4℃ for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20℃.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
