Leukocyte common antigen is expressed exclusively on the surface of hematolymphoid cells and their progenitors, including T and B lymphocytes, granulocytes, monocytes, and macrophages.
Mature erythrocytes and megakaryocytes do not express CD45.
The CD45 antibody is an important component of the antibody panel used to distinguish hematolymphoid neoplasms from non-hematolymphoid neoplasms, including undifferentiated or anaplastic large cell tumors (malignant lymphoma, melanoma, and carcinoma).
In a study of nasophryngeal biopsies, LCA staining was positive for all malignant melanomas and negative for all nasopharyngeal carcinomas.
LCA may be used together with cytokeratin antibodies to identify the cell-lineage of anaplastic tumors, demonstrating the ability to identify lymphoma and carcinoma in up to 88% of cases in a single study.
Consists of a mixture of three monoclonal antibodies: CD45, CD45RA and CD45RB.
Applications:Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry.
