Vimentin is a the type III intermediate filament (IF) protein expressed in a variety of mesenchymal and non-mesenchymal cells, including muscle cells, astrocytes, neurons, endothelial cells and fibroblasts.
During development of the mammalian nervous system vimentin is transiently expressed in neuronal precursor cells, often with the type VI IF, nestin.
Vimentin appears to play a role in many intracellular processes, recent examples from the literature include adhesion, glial scar formation, neuronal migration, and the normal development of Bergmann glia.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4℃ for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20℃.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
