• 概要：HL-60 cells, also known as Human Leukemic HL60 cell line, are human blood promyelocytic leukemia cells isolated from a 36-year-old female with acute promyelocytic leukemia.
• HL-60 cells are used to assess the effectiveness of chemotherapy drugs and vaccine targets and to study cell differentiation, phagocytosis, and calcium influx.
• One of the unique properties of HL-60 cells is that they can be differentiated into mature white blood cell types, such as neutrophils or monocytes, using compounds such as dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) or retinoic acid.
• These cells are also used as a model to study the cellular and molecular events involved in the proliferation and differentiation of leukemic cells, as well as to produce extracellular vesicles (EVs).
• HL-60 cells have a doubling time of approximately 36 to 48 hours and are heterogeneous in size, ranging from 9 to 25 microns in diameter.
• They are myeloblastic or promyelocytic in nature and are known to be tumorigenic in nude mice, forming subcutaneous myeloid tumors.
• Regarding gene expression, HL-60 cells express the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) gene, also known as TNF-alpha, after stimulation with phorbol myristic acid and the myc+ gene.

• Cultures can be maintained by adding or replacing medium, and new cultures should be started with 2 x 10^5 viable cells/ml and subcultured at 1 x 10^6 cells/ml.
