• 概要：MG-63 cells are a type of osteoblast cell line with fibroblast morphology isolated from the bone of a 14-year-old White male patient with osteosarcoma.
• These cells have the advantage of producing high interferon levels when superinduced with polyinosinic acid-polycytidylic acid, cycloheximide, and actinomycin D, yielding 3.7-fold higher yields per square centimeter of culture surface than diploid fibroblasts.
• MG-63 cells can be seeded onto various surfaces, such as Bioglass disks, titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) disks, and cobalt chrome (Co-Cr-Mo) alloys, making them a commonly used osteoblastic model to study bone cell viability, adhesion, and proliferation.
• The doubling time of MG-63 cells is 38 hours or 28.3 hours, depending on the source.
• These cells express genes for interferon and transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) RI and RII.
• Additionally, when MG-63 cells are exposed to 1,26-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,26D3) and transforming growth factor /3 (TGFB) simultaneously, alkaline phosphatase activity can be induced 40-70-fold over basal levels, demonstrating the potential for MG-63 cells in studying bone differentiation effects.
• Compared to other osteosarcoma cell lines, MG-63 cells proliferate rapidly, and their alkaline phosphatase activity increases following 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25(OH)2D3) administration, rendering them suitable to study human osteoblast-like cells with regards to the regulation and expression of osteocalcin.
