The PCM1 Break Apart FISH Probe Kit is designed to detect rearrangements in the human PCM1 gene located on chromosome band 8p22.
In addition to revealing breaks, which can lead to translocation of parts of the gene, inversion, or its fusion to other genes, the probe set can also be used to identify other PCM1 aberrations such as deletions or amplifications.
Rearrangements and altered expression of this gene – also known as PTC4 or RET/PCM-1 – have been observed in papillary thyroid carcinomas and a variety of hematological malignancies, including atypical chronic myeloid leukemia and T-cell lymphoma.
