The KMT2A Break Apart FISH Probe Kit is designed to detect rearrangements in the human KMT2A gene located on chromosome band 11q23.3.
In addition to revealing breaks, which can lead to translocation of parts of the gene, inversion, or its fusion to other genes, the probe set can also be used to identify other KMT2A aberrations such as deletions or amplifications.
Rearrangements and abnormal expression of the KMT2A gene – also known as HRX, MLL, MLL1, TRX1, ALL-1, CXXC7, HTRX1, MLL1A, WDSTS, MLL/GAS7 or TET1-MLL – have been observed in a large number of acute leukemias and other malignancies.
Nearly 80 fusion partner genes have been identified to date.
