The FLI1 Break Apart FISH Probe Kitis designed to detect rearrangements in the human FLI1 gene mapping to chromosome band 11q24.3.
In addition to revealing breaks, which can lead to translocation of parts of the gene, inversion, or its fusion to other genes, the probe set can also be used to identify other FLI1 aberrations such as deletions or amplifications.
Rearrangements and abnormal expression of the FLI1 gene – also known as EWSR2, FLI-1, SIC-1 or BDPLT21 – have been observed in the majority of Ewing sarcoma forming a fusion gene with Ewing sarcoma gene on chromosome 22.
The FLI1 gene has been identified involving in acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
