The BRAF Break Apart FISH Probe Kit is designed to detect rearrangements in the human BRAF gene located on chromosome band 7q34.
In addition to revealing breaks, which can lead to translocation of parts of the gene, inversion, or its fusion to other genes, the probe set can also be used to identify other BRAF aberrations such as deletions or amplifications.
Rearrangements and abnormal expression of the BRAF gene – also known as v-raf murine sarcoma viral oncogene homolog B1, BRAF1 or RAFB1 – have been found in solid tumors like melanoma, colorectal cancer, ovarian cancer, papillary thyroid cancer and other malignancies.
